CHRISTIANS around the world will pray together at 11pm Fiji Standard Time tonight, Wednesday, March 25 during this corona virus pandemic.
We invite people of all faiths to join this prayer vigil and pray the Lord’s Prayer with billions of people worldwide.
Pray for the sick, for carers, our front line health workers. Pray for comfort, healing, strength, courage and compassion.
Remember also to wash your hands in soap and water, sanitize surfaces, cough into the crook of your elbow and maintain safe distances.
The Lord’s Prayer can be said at any time and takes the 20 seconds recommended for washing your hands in soap and water.
For tonight, the Heads of the Churches and the leaders of every Christian community, together with all Christians of the various confessions will invoke the Almighty, the omnipotent God and are invited to recite at the same time the prayer that Jesus, our Lord, taught us – the Our Father / Lord’s Prayer.
Today (Wednesday) is the day on which many Christians recall the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary of the Incarnation of the Word by the Angel Gabriel (Luke 1:26–38),
Pope Francis prayed: “May the Lord listen to the united prayer of all of His disciples who are preparing themselves to celebrate the victory of the Risen Christ”.
This has been endorsed by the Anglican Church, World Methodist Council, Presbytarian churches, Lutheran World Federation and Regional Ecumenical Organisations, National Councils of Churches and others.
God’s blessings be with you all. We look forward to joining with you in prayer.
Be blessed and be safe.
Reverend JAMES S. BHAGWAN
