25-29th July 2022
Suva City, Fiji
Gender Based Violence (GBV) continues to be a major concern with the Pacific having some of the highest per capita rates of violence in the world. How are our churches tackling this issue? From the 25th to the 29th of July, 30 men and women representing our member churches in Fiji attended a Positive Role Model Workshop in Suva, Fiji. Organized by PCC, UN Women and the Welfare Improvement Network (WiN), the participants covered a number of topics including Social Innovation, The Positive Deviance Approach, Behavioral Science/Insights, Interviewing Techniques, and others that looked at the positive role models within our church communities who are breaking the mold when it comes to addressing GBV. It was a week of learning, sharing and deep reflection for our participants who now go away with the assignment of going out to their communities and carrying out their learnings before reconvening in 60 days to report on the progress made on their commitments. Following the theme of “Genesis 1: 26”, this Workshop will be the first of many that will be carried out in other parts of the region in the months to come. #EndViolence #EVAWG #Pacific#PCC #SafeChurches #SafeCommunities #SafeHomes
