THIS week the Pacific Conference of Churches joins faith communities around the world to mark  the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity,

In our morning devotions and prayer life we will pray for the grace to serve all people and show them God’s love, particularly in light of COVID-19.

Our partners and member churches will also participate in this week of prayer as we attempt to emulate the islanders who greeted Paul after he was shipwrecked off Malta. The kindness and care they showed is referred to in Acts 28:2.

Today, as we face COVID-19 and financial constraints, we are called to show Christ’s love to those in need. Through our generosity we must be caring, responsible people of God.

Let us remember in our prayers, thoughts and deeds those who have been affected by illness, loss of loved ones, the loss of employment and our people who live in anguish and uncertainty.

In the words of Uniting Church in Australia President, Dr Deidre Palmer: “As we pray this week for Christian Unity, we celebrate the life we share in Christ with other churches both here in Australia and across the world. We join together as one, in embodying God’s vision for the flourishing of all people and the whole creation,” said Dr Palmer.
